Data Deletion Instructions
At StoryBrunch.com, your privacy is our top priority. We understand the importance of data privacy rights and are committed to empowering you with the control you need over your data. This page is designed to provide you with all the necessary information on our data deletion procedures in line with both European and American legislations, including the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Your Rights
Under the GDPR, EU citizens have the right to request the erasure of their personal data, also known as the ‘right to be forgotten’. The CCPA extends similar rights to the residents of California, allowing them to request the deletion of personal information that a business has collected about them.
Requesting Data Deletion
If you wish to exercise your right to data deletion:
Please send an email to our Data Protection Officer at admin@storybrunch.com, with the subject line ‘Data Deletion Request’.
Include clear information in the body of the email that helps us to verify your identity. Please note that the purpose of this verification process is to ensure that the individual making the request is the same individual about whom we have collected information.
Please note that these rights are not absolute and may be subject to our own legitimate interests and regulatory requirements.
Processing Your Request
Once we receive your request, we will confirm receipt and begin processing it. We will respond to your request within one month of receipt. However, if your request is complex or we have received a high volume of requests, this may be extended by a further two months. We will notify you if this is the case.
Exceptions to Deletion
Under both GDPR and CCPA, there may be certain exceptions where we are not required to fulfill your data deletion request. These may include instances where the data is necessary for:
- Compliance with a legal obligation.
- The establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.
- Detecting security incidents, protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity, or prosecuting those responsible for such activities.
We will inform you if any of these exceptions apply to your request.
Your Right to Lodge a Complaint
Under GDPR, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you believe that we have not complied with the requirements of the GDPR with regard to your personal data.
Updates to This Page
We may update this page from time to time in response to changing legal, technical or business developments. When we update our Data Deletion process, we will take appropriate measures to inform you, consistent with the significance of the changes we make.
